With over seven years of experience in Learning & Development, I have advanced from a Training Specialist to Director of Learning & Development by strategically aligning training initiatives with business outcomes. My L&D career spans both Single Family Rentals and Multifamily Real Estate, where I’ve developed training for diverse roles and led an L&D team focused on driving business success.
In terms of Instructional Design, I specialize in developing e-learning courses, live training sessions, and branded materials. I collaborate with key stakeholders and Subject Matter Experts to create training programs that are engaging, measurable, and impactful. I also have extensive experience in managing Standard Operating Procedures, ensuring consistency and clarity across the organization.
I’ve become an excellent facilitator and speaker, leveraging experience gained since college to bring energy, effectiveness, and excitement to any presentation. I coach facilitators and speakers through my work at conferences, ensuring they are well-prepared and confident. Additionally, I pride myself on being an effective communicator, fostering collaboration across departments and ensuring our initiatives align with company goals.
I have extensive experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS), having led research to implement new systems at two organizations. I excel in managing LMS, generating insightful reports, and ensuring high compliance standards. For the past 2.5 years, I’ve maintained compliance training completion rates above 90% at my current workplace.
My leadership experience is two-fold: I build focused leadership training, and I lead a high-performing L&D team that serves as a true strategic partner to the business. Most recently at Pegasus Residential, I transformed an L&D team once seen as a “work in progress” into a critical asset for our Operations team. One of the most meaningful pieces of feedback I recently received was, "L&D feels like L&D again."
I am deeply committed to excellence and believe in learning the business well so that my team and I can be more effective partners, not just service providers. Together, we integrate deeply with the business to deliver results.
In my personal life, I am a proud husband and father. My favorite hobbies are spending quality time with my family, playing disc golf, roasting (and drinking) coffee, and volunteering at my church.
Working with Operations Leaders, at Pegasus Residential, we launched a new training program for Leasing in 2023, called "NextGen Leasing Onboarding". With the launch of the program, and training much of our workforce, we saw phone secret shops for Leasing Associates rise above our "benchmark" of 85.
We continued to see great improvement in our secret shops for the year, realizing our best year since 2019.
Compliance training at Pegasus Residential has maintained an average of well over 90% for my entire time as leader of Learning & Development.
To enhance continued compliance training, my L&D team launched an Annual Compliance Period where all employees take their annual compliance training during the same 30 days each year, instead of the more traditional style where each employee takes their compliance training at their hire anniversary date.
This focus on compliance training excellence, has helped protect the company from legal issues, saving countless dollars and helping us focus on excellence in business.
For the past 2.5 years, I have led the education sessions during the Annual Conference, and Regional Manager Summits (held twice a year).
During these Conferences and Summits, I have the opportunity to coach the speakers, design the education sessions, emcee the events, and also speak during my own sessions.
During my time at my current place of work, we have seen the highest rated reviews of any Conferences in the company's history.
